The nonstick is durable enough to go safely into the oven at temperatures up to 450 degrees F. Made of heavy-gauge aluminum with a matte finish, the pan conducts heat uniformly and quickly. Because the aluminum is anodized it's harder than steel and the pan won't scratch, chip, or crack. The oval, brushed stainless-steel handle stays cool on the stovetop and has a hanging hole for the pan to be stored on hook or peg. The domed glass lid collects and returns moisture to food and permits monitoring of cooking without reducing the temperature inside the pan. Calphalon 2-1/2 qt saucepan July 20, 2010 faynoe As with other Calphalon cookware, this one is super. It cooks evenly, has no hot spots, and cleans with ease. The glass lid makes checking for doneness very easy. I wish I had known beforehand that commercial non-stick sprays are a NO-NO, as I had just stocked up on PAM sprays. A surprising use--making scrambled eggs for two. Because of the smaller diameter, as opposed to the 10" saute pan, the eggs come out more moist, and I can finish them with the lid that comes with the pan.
Love it! July 20, 2010 M. Thomas This is my favorite saucepan! All of my pans are Calphalon, but some are hard-anodized and I found that the non-stick is much better, so I am going to stick to the non-stick. Ha Ha. I have another 2-1/2 quart hard-anodized saucepan and this one is bigger, which makes it a true 2-1/2 quart pan. I love the extra room it provides and the curved design. The see-through lid is nice also. It's a winner!

Excellent Buy -- July 13, 2010 Michael C. Morgan I went with the Cook's Illustrated reviews of this skillet and am glad that I did. It handles every task well and its small size lets it take on other things, such as small scale steaming, that what it replaced just couldn't do. Quality pot, very good value for the money.
Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick 2-1/2-Quart Shallow Saucepan with Lid April 21, 2010 SAF LOVE this saucepan. It was recommended in Cooks Illustrated and I also highly recommend it. Nothing sticks to it! The lid is glass, so you can observe whatever you're cooking. The handle is sturdy. I like the curved lip of the saucean itself for pouring sauces out with no problems or runs down the outside of the pot. It's the perfect size pot for everyday use.
