Product Description From the comfortably arched handles to the stylish flared silhouettes, the Calphalon Contemporary line is designed to please. Looks aren't everything however, and this cookware line is not simply another pretty face! No indeed, this collection is constructed of heavy gauge aluminum, reknowned for its fast and even heating, and it's lined with durable non-stick for easy clean up and low fat cooking. Lids are of tempered glass to allow visual monitoring of the cooking process. This sauce pan is a good choice for making puddings, heating hot fudge or dips or for cooking veggies. Additionally the low and wide profile combine to facilitate evaporation, an essential aspect of reduction sauces.
Amazon.com Review Perfect for reducing sauces or cooking vegetables on the stovetop and for braising meat in the oven, this shallow, 2-1/2-quart saucepan is coated with nonstick inside to release food readily and clean easily. The nonstick is durable enough to go safely into the oven at temperatures up to 450 degrees F. Made of heavy-gauge aluminum with a matte finish, the pan conducts heat uniformly and quickly. Because the aluminum is anodized it's harder than steel and the pan won't scratch, chip, or crack. The oval, brushed stainless-steel handle stays cool on the stovetop and has a hanging hole for the pan to be stored on hook or peg. The domed glass lid collects and returns moisture to food and permits monitoring of cooking without reducing the temperature inside the pan. Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick cookware carries a lifetime warranty against defects.

Just right February 26, 2010 Bobby Flavor (Naperville, IL) As advertised... deep enough for those items that need it and shallow enough that you could fry an egg and easily turn it over. Comfortable grip. Very easy to clean. This will be used much more often than I expected. I ought to throw out a lot of the pots and pans that are cluttering my cabinet.
For the second time, this saucepan disappoints. February 19, 2010 Silver Mom (Seattle WA) About 2 years ago, I bought one of these saucepans and really liked it...until the non-stick coating deteriorated after about 18 months of use. (Yes, yes, we were careful about utensils and how we washed it.) Even though I prefer kitchen equipment that stands the tests of time a bit (much!) better, I liked the pan so much that I replaced it. Well, after only 6 months or so, the non-stick coating on pan #2 has started peeling off. NOT acceptable. I won't be buying anymore of this brand of saucepans.
Very, very disappointed February 10, 2010 Robin (USA) I own other Calphalon cookware and have found it to be of excellent quality. Unfortunately this saucepan does not fit into that category. Apparently Calphalon is no longer made in the United States but is now made in China. The quality of the product is NOT what it once was.
After receiving the saucepan I unpacked it and washed it. My major problem is with the lid of the pot. There is a rubber gasket between the glass cover and the metal rim. This gasket area filled with soapy water from being washed and I found it impossible to remove all of the liquid. This means that when cooking steam will condense there and oils from food will also collect there. This could then be transferred to other foods at subsequent cooking times. There is also a high probability that mold could form there during storage. This is unacceptable.
I have returned this saucepan to Amazon for a refund and will search for a product without this problem.
I am unable to recommend this product to anyone else and highly encourage you to check the lids of any pots you are considering for a similar issue.
Buy. You won't be sorry January 4, 2010 L. Current Bought several of these pans two years ago to give to our daughters as gifts after having bought one and liked it so well ourselves. They have told us how well they like them. Still have a spare to use, when and if we ever need it. Some buyers have complained about staining. I have been successful removing stains by scrubbing with a paste made of baking soda and water.
Not clear on how I lived without it December 23, 2009 C Rynn (Twin Cities) Got this pot recently, only because with holidays I needed another 2-ish quart.
I feel like an annoying TV ad. It boils, it sautes, it pours, it doesn't scorch or scratch
I particularly like the not sharp inner base curve so not burned bits, easy saucier whisking.
So, initially an extra, cheapy pan (a bargain at $33!!!) Now, wondering what I did without it. Wish there was a steamer insert made to fit, then the whole meal would cook in one pot...
